GCD is a simple directory change program, with a couple of features
that the standard DOS change directory doesn't have.
GCD allows not only changing the directory like it's DOS counterpart,
but adds the ability to change drive & directory. Also you have the
ability to give your directories discriptions that will automatically
display after the directory change is made.
This version also includes color prompts and error messages, just
to liven up the screen a little.
Instructions:
1) Put GCD.EGE anywhere in your path.
2) Type 'gcd' at the prompt followed by the drive & directory
you wish to change to.
(ex. 'c:\> gcd hold' or 'c:\> gcd d:\hold')
(note: you must separate command line argument from
gcd by a space. 'c:\>gcd\hold' will not work)
3) To have GCD display a discription you will need to create
a text file in each directory you want discribed.
The filename for the discription is 'GCD.DIR'.
You have two options for creating the text file.
a) You can create it with any text editor or
b) You can run GCD in a directory with out 'gcd.dir'
and it will prompt you for the input.
To stop the text entry and write the description to
the file 'GCD.DIR' just hit the ENTER key on a new line.
'GCD.DIR' will be marked with the hidden attribute set automatically.
Thanks to Mike Young for all of his help.
